As Jesus changes us, He gives us a desire to grow in our knowledge of Him as the true center of all things instead of desiring to be the center of our own universe. So how do we grow to know God more? We get in His Word! We learn Christ’s ways in both our corporate time together and in our own personal study and reflection on His Word. Here are just a few practical ideas from our summer bucket to grow in this area this summer...

Read through the Gospels in a month

Begin a Bible reading plan to read through the Bible in a year (the YouVersion Bible app has a ton of options!)

Memorize a longer passage of scripture

Memorize a verse a week

Study the Spiritual Disciplines using “Habits of Grace” by David Mathis or “Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life” by Donald Whitney

Study the characteristics of God

(F) Study the fruits of the spirit (maybe one a week!)

(F) Memorize a verse each month

(F) Teach your kids the habit of a daily quiet time

(F) Use the New City Catechism (there’s a kids version!) to walk through theological foundations
