The term family can have different meanings to people. This month, we're going to explore how we might look at and serve families in our community, the church, and God’s Kingdom.
One of the ways we can serve families is by learning where and how God has called us to be on mission. Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is a great way to discover your role in God’s global movement. This is the fourth year the class will be held in our community, so stay tuned for more details!
A big part of serving families in our community is serving the children of those families. Tucked away in the Winston-Salem community of West Salem is Diggs-Latham Elementary School. Diggs is an A+ magnet school that serves a diverse community. Principal Dr. Cassandra Dobson and Center Grove were able to love on the teachers of Diggs as the staff came back from summer break. Through your faithful giving, we were able to provide a light breakfast, snacks, and water for their first teacher workday. Please pray that God will give us further opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus at Diggs-Latham.
September 19 will be a major day of celebration at Center Grove so be sure to mark it down on your calendar! Not only will we celebrate God's faithfulness through the YES! Journey, but we will also have a time of fellowship as a church family with a Family Reunion. This would be a great opportunity to reach out and invite a Center Grove friend you might not have seen in a while. For full event details, head on over to the events page.
The events of this past month remind us that the family of God around the world needs our support in prayer. Nothing brings this to our attention more than those brothers and sisters in Afghanistan. What a great way to involve the whole family by praying for others that are in need or unreached.
The Joshua Project is also a great resource to learn which ethnic people groups your family can pray for. You can pray for a different people group each day or choose a specific people group to pray for and learn more about. Head on over to the Joshua Project to see how you and your family can make a difference in this powerful way.
