Know Jesus

We believe that the way to peace with God comes as we yield to Him and accept the free gift of life with God that comes through His Son Jesus. Below are steps to knowing Jesus personally, adapted from Life on Mission, a resource from the NAMB.

If you would like to talk with someone about what it means to follow Him, it would be our joy to hear from you.

Let's Begin

We live in a broken world, surrounded by broken lives, broken relationships and broken systems.

This brokenness is seen in suffering, violence, poverty, pain and death around us.

God's Design

In contrast to the brokenness, we also see beauty, purpose and evidence of design all around us.

The Bible tells us that God originally planned a world that worked perfectly - where everyone and everything fit together in harmony.

"And God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good." Genesis 1.31

God made each of us with a purpose - to worship Him and walk with Him.

"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." Psalm 19.1

Sin

Life doesn't work when we ignore God and His original design for our lives.

We selfishly insist on doing things our own way, which the Bible calls sin. We all sin and distort the original design.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3.23

The consequences of our sin is separation from God - in this life and for all of eternity.

"For the wages of sin is death." Romans 6.23

Brokenness

Sin leads to a place of brokenness. We see this all around us and in our own lives as well.

When we realize that life is not working, we begin to look for a way out - going different directions and trying different things just to figure it out.

"They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served something created instead of the Creator." Romans 1.25

Brokenness leads to a place of realizing a need for something greater.

The Good News

Because of His love, God did not leave us in our brokenness. Jesus, God in human flesh, came to us and lived perfectly according to God's Design.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3.16

Jesus came to rescue us - to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. He took our sin and shame to the cross, paying the penalty of our sin by His death. Jesus was then raised from the dead to provide the only way for us to be rescued and restored to a relationship with God.

"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15.3-4

Repent and Believe

Simply hearing this Good News is not enough.

We must admit our sinful brokenness and stop trusting in ourselves. We don't have the power to excape this brokenness on our own - we need to be rescued!

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast" Ephesians 2.8-9

We must ask God to forgive us - turning from sin to trust only in Jesus. This is what it means to repent and believe.

Believing, we receive new life through Jesus and God turns our lives in a new direction.

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." Romans 10.9-10

Recover and Pursue

When God restores our relationship to Him, we begin to discover meaning and purpose in a broken world. Now we can pursue God's Design in all areas of our lives.

Even when we fail, we understand God's pathway to be restored - this same Good News of Jesus.

God's Spirit empowers us to recover His Design and assures us of His presence in this life and for all of eternity.

"For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." Philippians 2.13

Baptism

Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. By being dipped under water and then raised back up, baptism depicts the story of salvation: you once were dead in your sin, but now you have been made alive to follow a brand new way of life.

We celebrate baptisms throughout the year. Something real happens when someone begins to follow Jesus and we want to celebrate that change!

Life Groups

God never intended for our spiritual journeys to be solo pursuits. He created us for community, and in Christ, we belong together.

We know that spiritual growth happens best in the context of small groups, so we invite you to experience one of our Life Groups so you can meet friends and build meaningful relationships where you know others and they know you.

We have several different types of groups! Some meet on Sunday mornings, others in homes during the week or out in the community.

Simply complete the form below and we will help you find the right group!

Serve

We believe that we look most like Jesus when we're serving. We are excited to serve others in His name following His example. We do this through acts of generosity, church-wide service projects done for local communities and schools, and Life Group-led projects that aid those who help the underprivileged among us. We are intentional about finding ways to show the love and life of Jesus through service.

There are also many opportunities to serve right here at Center Grove both during services and throughout the week.

Volunteer teams represent the right combination of abilities and giftedness, serving with a united purpose - to make disciples and change the world by serving God, serving each other and serving the church. Read more about specific teams below and complete the form to get involved!

Local Outreach

We look most like Jesus when we serve the needs of others, and we love most like Jesus when we share the Good News. As a church, we partner with local organizations to create opportunities for you to serve the needs of others in a way that leads to the sharing of the gospel.

Global Outreach

In Matthew 28, Jesus told his followers to make disciples of all nations. This calling remains for followers of Jesus today. We aim to send short-term teams around the United States and abroad to partner with missionaries, church planters, and organizations to share the gospel and to participate in God’s global purpose of making disciples.
