8:30am Life Groups:

Parents w/ Children (McDowell Life Group)

Sundays at 8:30am in Room 201

  • Our Life Group is made up of married couples from 30’s to 40’s with small children to preteen children.
  • We meet every Sunday morning at 8:30am and get together outside of Sunday morning at least once a month. In addition, many members are very involved in each others’ lives throughout the week.
  • We are a new class with many new members. We are working to get to know each other better and develop lasting, meaningful and sincere friendships. Our study of the scripture during our time together is done through discussion, which is facilitated by the shepherding teacher. Discussion and the sharing of ideas, as well as questions, are encouraged and welcomed.
  • Our Life Group emphasizes how the gospel applies to everyday living. We try to always discuss how the Gospel and the teachings of the Bible can be practically applied to our lives. The importance of prayer and the study of the Bible are emphasized and encouraged. Further, the importance of Christian fellowship is encouraged through some of the following events: family events, couples' nights out, men only outings and meetings, and women only outings and meetings.
  • Our Life Group’s purpose is to build deep relationships between ourselves and Jesus Christ, as well as with each other. We wish to model our behavior after His through showing love towards others within and without the group. We also desire to grow our relationships with God by better understanding through scripture who God is, by serving each other in times of need and plenty, as well as by serving the greater community. We want to see such a strong growth in our faith that sharing the Gospel with others is a natural part of who we are.

Parents w/ Teenagers (Fagg Life Group)

Sundays at 8:30am in Room 202

  • Our Life Group is made up of mostly married couples with a few singles ranging from 30's to 50's. Families may range from no children, to small children, to children in college and beyond. We utilize the elder couples to give advice to the younger couples.
  • We meet every Sunday morning at 8:30am and get together outside of Sunday mornings at least once a month. We have couples getting together throughout the week for dinner and other unofficial class gatherings.
  • During our weekly meetings we spend time engaging God's Word and applying it to our lives. We come together to examine both Scripture and our lives. We don’t want to go through the motions of church or Christianity; we look at real life and find answers in the Bible. We also encourage each other with prayer and often begin with sharing prayer needs and praises of answered prayers. We encourage each other to live daily with an awareness of God's presence and use our times together to ask each other’s advice and invite guidance in our decision-making. Outside of the regular meeting we like to just hang out, which usually involves the consumption of food.
  • Our Life Group emphasizes how the gospel applies to everyday living no matter where you are in life. God calls each of us, many out of what we think are our mundane everyday lives, to do something extraordinary, to really live for Him. We ask questions like: Who and what are you living for? How deeply are you choosing to live your life?
  • Our Life Group's purpose is education and relationship, or truth and love. Instruction is not the goal, love is. The truth of doctrine and truth of people, watching them unite to aim at love. We have a desire to know more about the truth of the Bible, God and the Christian life. We want to share our lives, struggles and all, as we grow in Christ-likeness and love for one another.

Sundays at 8:30am in Room 208

  • We are mostly couples from 40’s to 60’s. Some of us have older children still at home and some have adult children who have “left the nest." We have several members of the choir, as well.
  • Our Life Group meets from 8:30-9:30 each Sunday morning and outside the class for social events.
  • Each Life Group meeting includes a time of fellowship and sharing, a time of prayer, and a time of study. We share a prayer list that is distributed in class and via e-mail.
  • We study the assigned material with a focus on potential application to our daily lives. We are realistic in our approach and seek out the portion of the lesson which best applies to our demographics, expressed needs and God’s call upon us individually and as a Life Group.
  • We seek to support the purpose of Center Grove, “to make disciples and change the world." Our goal is to continually grow as disciples of Jesus through study, sharing of needs and experiences, and prayer.

  • The Empty Nesters Life Group seeks to grow together in Christ as we study God’s truths and implement biblical precepts in everyday life.
  • Our Life Group’s purpose is. . . to develop a deeper relationship and faith walk with our Lord through Bible study, prayer, and fellowship with other believers; to support, encourage, and lift one another up in prayer; to build relationships so as to have a place where we are encouraged, known, loved, prayed for and cared for – a place to belong; to make an eternal investment in people’s lives by sharing the love of Jesus Christ and what a difference He can make in lives; thus, positively impacting our congregation, community, and world.
